Leprino Foods is an American company with headquarters in Denver, Colorado that produces cheese, lactose, whey protein and sweet whey.[1][2] It is the world's largest maker of mozzarella cheese.[3]

Early life
James Leprino was born in 1938 to Mike and Mary Leprino, Italian immigrants in Denver, Colorado, as the youngest of five children. His father emigrated from Italy in 1914 and was a farm worker until he started a grocery store in Denver’s Little Italy.
The young Leprino grew up in the Little Italy neighborhood of North Denver, where he was introduced to the world of cheese-making through his family’s small grocery store.
