Phillip Hugh Norman Rudd (born Phillip Hugh Norman Witschke Rudzevecuis,[1][2] 19 May ) is an Australian drummer, best known as the drummer of AC/DC across three stints (–, –, –present). On the departure of bass guitarist Mark Evans from AC/DC, Rudd became the only Australian-born member of the band. In , he entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the other members of AC/DC. In , Rudd released his first solo album, Head Job. Due to ongoing legal problems in New Zealand, where he is a resident, Rudd was unable to join the band for the Rock or Bust World Tour and was replaced by Chris Slade.[3][4] On 30 September , AC/DC confirmed that Rudd would be rejoining the band for their comeback album Power Up.

Phil Rudd was born on May 19, in Melbourne, Australia. Phil made his name with the Colored Balls, a skinhead band formed by guitarist Lobby Lloyd and singer Angry Anderson (who went on to struktur Rose Tatoo), which terrorized the club circuit during the early Seventies with a ferocious brand of yob-rock.
Two singles ('Liberate Rock' and 'Mess Of Blues') were the only recognized fruits of Phil Rudd's time with the Colored Balls who, in , changed their name to Buster Brown and went on to record one album ('Something To Say') for the indie Mushroom Records later the same year. But by the beginning of Phil had had enough, and hardly hesitated when AC/DC offered him the gig.
In , at the end of the recording sessions of 'Flick Of The Switch', there were personal difficulties between Phil and Malcolm Young. Their relationship progressively deteriorated, to the point where a physical confrontation eventually took place. Two hours later Phil was out, flying home. Phil elected to retire to

Biography[]
Rudd played in several bands in Melbourne before joining Buster Brown with future Rose Tattoo vocalist Angry Anderson.[2] They went on to release one skiva, Something To Say, in but Rudd left for a brief spell in the Coloured Balls with Lobby Loyde. During he was told about AC/DC's rhythm section auditions by his former Coloured Balls bandmate Trevor ung. He asked Buster Brown bassist Geordie Leach to accompany him, but Leach refused.
