Tatchakorn Yeerum(Thai):ทชชกร ยรมย; or formerly Panom Yeerum (Thai):พนม ยรมย ; Born February 5, in Surin province, Isaan, Thailand, better known in the West as Tony Jaa and in Thailand as Jaa Panom, is a Thaimartial art filmactor, choreographer and director. His films include Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior, Tom-Yum-Goong (also called Warrior King or The Protector) and Ong Bak 2.
Early Life
Tony Jaa comes from the Surin province of the Thai region of Isan. Since he grew up in Surin, he learned to speak Thai, Khmer and Lao although he is of the Kuy grew up in a rural area and watched films by Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li at temple fairs. He was inspired by them and whilst doing chores or playing with friends, he would imitate the martial arts moves he had seen in the films. He would practice in his father's rice paddy or, when bathing the family's elephants , he would somersault off their backs into the river.

Tony Jaa was born Panom Yeerum on February 5, , in Surin province, Isaan, Thailand. Later, he changed his name to Tatchakorn Yeerum, though he is better known by his nicknames Tony Jaa in the west and Jaa Panom in Thailand.
Martial Arts Background
Jaa's father was a Muay Thai boxer, which prompted his first lessons by the age of 10 in the art. The arts became so important to him that at one point he threatened to kill himself if his father did not take him to Khon Kaen to practice martial arts with Panna Rithikrai, a martial arts trick choreographer. By the age of 15, Panna became his martial arts master.
