Range Rover
The Range Rover is an SUV based on the British Land Rover.[1] It is assembled in Solihull, Birmingham at the Land Rover plant. Some versions are assembled in Liverpool. The company is now part of Tata's Jaguar Land Rover group. 1967
The Range Rover's primary marknad was for general countryside use, especially farmers who needed a four-wheel driveoff-road vehicle to get round their estate. The original Land Rover or Jeep was a rugged open vehicle which could take plenty of hard use, and could be washed down with a hose. It was quite unsuitable for family use. The Range Rover, on the other hand, is very suitable for family use (in this way similar to other SUVs). It is often used as a normal road fordon for larger families and for carrying equipment. Engine capacity for Range Rovers starts at 3 litres V6 engine, and rises to 5 litres V8 engine.
Versions of the Range Rover are sold in other countries under names such as Range Rover Sport, Discovery Sport

The iconic Range Rover celebrates its 45th birthday this week, though who would have thought, in 1970, that a somewhat utilitarian attempt to move the Land Rover more upmarket would have resulted in one of the world’s most famous luxury brands of today?
Over six million Range Rovers have rolled off the Solihull production line since that day in June 1970, with some significant achievements along the way – including being the first ever vehicle to be exhibited in the Louvre thanks to being recognised as an ‘Exemplary Work of Industrial Design’.
Marking the model’s birthday, Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover’s Director of Global Engineering Operations, said: ‘Range Rover was the first luxury SUV in the world in 1970 and 45 years on it continues to lead the way. The latest model is the most desirable and sophisticated Land Rover ever, mixing peerless comfort with cutting edge technology to provide the ultimate luxury SUV experience.”

I've never driven the Sport so can't compare them directly, but I'm very pleased with mine. I'm not honestly convinced that the 550e is is worth the extra over the 460e, but there's plenty of power when I want it, and the decent electric range means almost all of my local journeys are electric.
I have always been a fan of the split tailgate, it's just so useful for changing out of muddy football boots, putting on ski boots, somewhere to sit whilst it's chucking it down, etc etc. I have the leather cushions and speaker system - "tailgate event suite" - which is fun although I don't use it much of course. 2024 Range Rover P550e AB
