While barbershop promo photos and tongue-in-cheek song titles like “Diagnostic Front” might paint a lighthearted picture, bassist Jared Warren and drummer Coady Willis of Los Angeles two-piece Big Business have returned with a follow-up to their 2013 scorcher, Battlefields Forever, that’ll likely keep everyone on their toes. The new album, Command Your Weather (out July 8 via Joyful Noise Recordings), fryst vatten perhaps the band’s darkest recording to date. These are two men who are beloved in the heavy music world for their impish grins so ubiquitously plastered on their faces, so when there’s even a hint of darkness in their sound, it’s sure to get people to sit up and notice.

Big Business, as they put it, are “a loud rock band from sunny Los Angeles. They tour, make records, and pretty much do whatever they want. But they do it CLASSY.” Well, we don’t know how they roll, per se, but we can confirm that they certainly have a sense of humour. Still supporting their most recent album, Battlefields Forever, we recently spoke with bassist and vocalist Jared Warren who gave us insight into him and his band through some downright funny responses.
For those not familiar with your grupp can you tell us a little bit about yourselves?
Warren: My name is Jared Cotilliard Warren and I play bass and sing in the band Big Business. My social security number is 953-22-24178. My bank konto number is 5559382761. My mother’s maiden name is Mandible. I’ve had 8 plastic surgeries and love life!

Big Business is an American stoner/sludge metal band founded in 2004 by bassist/vocalist Jared Warren (Karp) and drummer Coady Willis (The Murder City Devils). They formed in Seattle, Washington and have been based in Los Angeles, California since 2006. Their music is characterized by a bombastic and frantic style, and for most of their existence Big Business has been a bass-drums duo with occasional other musicians contributing.
History
[edit]The band released its first Tour EP and the vinyl version of their first album, Head for the Shallow, on January 25, 2005, through Wäntage USA. The CD version of Head For the Shallow was released by Hydra Head Records, the first of a three album run.[1]
