Edward "Eddie" S. Fatu[3] (March 28, 1973 - December 4 2009) was a Samoanprofessional wrestler best known for working with the WWF/WWE under the ring namesJamal, Ekmo, and Umaga.
He worked closely with Matt Anoaʻi of the Anoa'i wrestling family which he was also a part of. With Anoaʻi, they formed the tag teams The Island Boyz, the Samoan Gangstas, and 3-Minute Warning. He also wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling and wrestled a short time in TNA Wrestling from 2003 to 2004.
Eddie Fatu died on December 4, 2009 of a heart attack. The official cause of his death was from acute toxicity from the combined effects of hydrocodone, carisoprodol, and diazepam.[5][6]

On March 28, 1973, Umaga (real name Edward Smith Fatu) was born in American Samoa to mother Elevera Anoa’i and I’aulualo Fatu Sr. Many wrestling fans do not know that the man born to become Umaga is the brother of both Tonga Kid and Rikishi.
Edward would train alongside his cousin, Matt Anoa’i (popularly known as WWE’s Rosey), at the Wild Samoan professional wrestling school. He would first debut in World Xtreme Wrestling (his uncle’s wrestling promotion).

Edward Smith Fatu[3] (March 28, 1973 – December 4, 2009) was an American professional wrestler, best known for his time with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) under the ring nameUmaga. Fatu was also known for his time with All Japan Pro Wrestling in the mid-2000s, where he was a main eventer under the ring name Jamal.
He was a member of the Anoaʻi family, a renowned Samoan wrestling family. During his first stint with WWE billed as Jamal, he was part of tag team 3-Minute Warning, with his cousin Matt Anoaʻi, billed as Rosey. He was released from the company in June 2003, later going to All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) and becoming a mainstay for the company from late 2003 to 2005. In April 2006, Fatu returned to WWE under the fingerprydnad name Umaga. Fatu went undefeated on the Raw brand throughout the year before finally suffering his first defeat in January 2007 at the hands of then WWE ChampionJohn Cena. Th
