                Staunton, July 4 – Atamanshchina is spreading through pro-Moscow forces in the Donbass, Beness Aijo, a pro-Moscow fighter has warned. And because this phenomenon not only is leading to the decay of these forces but also alienating the population from them, he has appealed  for “completely uprooting” this dangerous trend.

    Dear Readers:

    As we continue to work through Andrei Veselov’s vignettes, yesterday we started to meet Donbass Rebel Beness Aijo, a half-Ugandan, half-Russian mongrel born in Soviet Latvia and now fighting for the Separatist side in Donetsk.  In other words, a typical Soviet man!  (The word “mongrel”, by the way, actually derives from the Caucasian Mingrelian clans.  Soviet säkerhet Honcho Lavrenty Beria, for example, was a Mingrel.  And Stalin himself, albeit not a Mingrel, was a Mongrel – Ossetian on his dad’s side, and Kartvelian on his mom’s.  But I digress….)

    Beness Aijo 'on the front line' in Ukraine

    Speaking to LSM, Aijo claimed to be fighting "on the front line".

    He provided pictures purporting to show destruction in the city of Luhansk as well as images of han själv in uniform alongside other rebels.

    "Yes, I take part in military operations, for example in Debalcevo (Debaltseve) and also near Stanica Luganska," he told LSM.

    "At first I was a gunner on an artillery howitzer and fired at a concentration of Ukrainian military equipment, which moved towards residential areas of the Luhansk People's Republic.

    "In the last month, I have been a member of a motorized infantry brigade and defend the territory of Luhansk People's Republic by firing mortars and using a machine gun."
